Compensation: 40-45% commission + tips (Commission percent depends on experience, willing to offer 50% to the right applicant)

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and detail-oriented dog groomer to join our team on a part-time basis. This position begins at 3 days per week with the potential to expand to 4 days once you’ve settled in with us and the dogs.

Current Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday – Operating hours are 9am – 5pm (hours are flexible if needed) (Potential to add Sundays down the road, as myself and my assistant groomer currently work Sundays)
Holidays off – Currently includes New Years day, Easter Sunday, 4th of July, Thanksgiving day, Black Friday (only because it’s the day after Thanksgiving), Christmas Eve & Christmas Day. -Other religious holidays or personal days (like birthdays etc.) can be arranged if needed

 

What We Offer:

• 40-45% commission on grooming services - 40% commission for 1.5-3 years of experience, 45% for 3+ years of experience (Willing to offer 50% to highly qualified groomers who can groom a minimum of 5 full haircuts a day and already groom to the standards of the salon)

• All tips included (split with bather only when applicable)

• W2 employment status

• Support from an experienced bather when available (which will be most days)

• Mentorship and guidance to refine your grooming skills

• No equipment needed (but you’re welcome to bring your own if they are cleaned properly and well maintained – No clipper vacs, to preserve the calm and holistic environment)

• High-end grooming equipment and products, including electric tables and an electric tub

• 4 days paid holiday a year (2 for November & 2 for December)

• Scheduled lunches are a priority

• A peaceful, non-toxic, client and employee-centered work environment

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform a minimum of 4 full haircut grooms per day, preferably/eventually working up to 5 (but could be less depending on dog size), but with a focus on quality

• Maintain a clean and sanitary grooming station, including assisting with accidents and day-to-day messes, and treating all provided equipment with respect

• Communicate professionally with clients at drop-off and pick-up regarding grooming instructions and results; communication and comprehension are key to customer satisfaction

• Bathe and dry your own dogs when our bather is unavailable

• Take feedback openly, ask questions, and be willing to refine your technique to meet salon standards

 

Requirements:

• Minimum 1.5 years of professional grooming experience required

• Scissoring skills and confidence with using clippers & force dryers

• Confidence handling small dogs (up to 35 lbs) with minimal restraint

• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, team-oriented attitude

• Receptive to ongoing education, feedback, and mentorship if needed

Our average small dog groom is $108, while the ones closer to the 35lbs weight limit are on average $135+, reflecting our focus on premium, personalized service. With our average groom price of $108–$135+, a groomer doing 4–5 dogs/day at 40–50% commission could earn $200–$330+/day before tips. We schedule our clients’ appointments for 6 months to a year in advance, so your schedule will always be full (minus the occasional reschedule/cancelation, for which we have a cancelation fee), my goal is for you to take over many of my existing clients while adding in some new ones as needed; this means you will have dogs on your schedule from the very first day! This is so I can turn my focus on running the business, doing the more advanced or challenging grooms, taking better care of my chronic illness, and finishing my Master Groomer Certification.
